How to get a humans attention

The end of my weeks holiday is in sight (boo) & I haven’t even ridden once (double boo). Ok so I did sit oh his bareback but that doesn’t really count. I’ve just felt too weak /generally crap to be able to ride & it seems this cold still hasn’t ran its bloody course yet despite it now being at least 10 days.
That aside I have spent time with my big bay boy just milling & chilling. Yesterday I thought I’d take my book to his field & simply sit & read. Eastar seemed happy to see me & after some serious scratches he followed me around until I found a place to sit. I sat on the lovely soft tuft of grass (bit damp but heyho) with my book & fag while Eastar just looked at me as if to say “what you doing down there”? I told him I wanted to just sit & read for awhile, but I guess that wasn’t his plan! After a little forage around in my hair & a sniff here & there he decided that the book was his next target to get me moving. A nibble of a page, a wipe of a grubby nose followed by a nudge of my arm & hey presto the book was tossed aside for Eastar time. We played a little & of course had more scratches (what else is life for huh) before I said my goodbyes & off I went leaving a rather sad looking horse behind.
When I brought him in I hung around in his stable for awhile as it was funny watching him not know whether to eat or come over to me, bless. Mart came to find me & decided to try & close the stable window for me as I’d been asking for a couple of days (wow just days & not weeks). A bad habit I know but I’d left his stable door open & Martin had also left the outer door open (eeks) a little bang as Martin worked on the window & Eastar got scared :( I was around the other side so Eastars path out was clear & he took it in the blink of an eye! Off he went straight for the door leaving me calling & chasing after him, thankfully as soon as he was out he stopped turned & followed me back in :D Phew I’m glad he feels safer with me than off running the estate again! That said he did have freshly picked parsnip leaves & baby carrots in his manger + some hay hanging around, so maybe that helped too.
